Jove Observatory Seeding Guide

upfront notes:

• Omega from Weekend Fleet packs really speeds up seeding, and you get a bit of PLEX (and SP + accelerators if you self-recruit at eveonline.com/recruit)
  • alternatively: CCP usually gives away a bit of Omega ~once or twice a year, usually alongside an expansion
    • you can create all your accounts and wait for a giveaway then use Omega to make all the alts and corps and do the seeding
• if seeding > 20 JOs from 1 station, you can
  increase the corp's member limitIf you add extra levels of any Corp management skill, you must click a button in a sub-window of the Corporation window to actaully increase the corp cap (and this must be done before the alt reverts to Alpha).

  by self-recruiting, getting Omega, then injecting SP into Corporation Management
  • you can make extra corps instead, but this is easier if you're getting Omega, and higher member caps remain after alts revert to alpha and/or leave the corp
  • you can move a single corp management alt between the corps that need higher member limits, but this makes it clear that they're related (if you care)
• some nerds use a gray-area trick which allows multiple alpha logins on the first new character per account. do that at your own risk

full setup:

1. File → Make a copy and change "Burgumboop" in the green cell to something else, ~10 characters or fewer, no spaces
2. pick JOs to seed
   • note: if seeding many deep JOs ~10 or more jumps from any station, scanning/scouting a route from Jita may be faster than deathcloning nearby
     • alternatively, if you can wait, stage in Thera and let EVE-Scout find you a route. they have an API if you can code (may take a minute to load)
       • you can remotely set homes and deathclone to Thera's stations just as you can to any others
   • my staging picks are optimal to within 3 jumps for non-NPC NS and

     NPC-sparse NSDelve, Fountain, Geminate, Great Wildlands, Outer Ring, Pure Blind and Venal

     . for Empire and

     NPC-dense NSCurse, Stain and Syndicate

     , they're < 10 jumps from all JOs
     • for Empire and NPC-dense NS, I just made reasonable-looking picks judging by DOTLAN, so you can make better picks there with effort
       • if you wanna compare: two tabs in the sheet show only Empire JO ranges to the 12 starter stations and to my bigger custom station set
3. get fitted ships to appropriate staging station(s). some spare ships would be wise
   • Control + F regions/systems in the sheet to find staging stations (or pick your own)
   • here’s my Atron fit and its tiny skill plan (all optional, but Evasive Maneuvering 3 makes it instawarp)
   • all my stagings have factories, so you can build locally if you don't wanna move baked hulls (or you could just pay GHSOL, PushX or Red Frog)
     • any max-expanded non-Deluge Blockade Runner (I prefer this Viator fit) can carry all the mods for 30 of my Atrons and enough minerals to build 30
       • that list assumes you use a 10% blueprint (researched copies & BPOs are both cheap as chips on trade hub contracts)
   • two in-game tools are very useful for managing the hulls & contracts:
     1. the Multifit tool auto-assembles and fits up to 30 hulls at a time:
        1. have all the necessary mods and unpackaged hulls for a fit in your Item hangar
        2. import the fitting to your saved fits
           1. copy the fitting to your clipboard
           2. Neocom → Ship → Fitting Management → Import button (down arrow) → Import from Clipboard
        3. right-click the stack of unpackaged hulls → Multifit (hover any red text for a list of missing items)
     2. the Assembled Ships function of the Contracts window auto-generates up to 30 identical contracts:
        1. select all the fitted hulls you wanna contract → right-click → Create Contract
        2. tick the Assembled Ships box and select the My Corporation radio button → click through the Nexts
   • I have corps and fitted Atrons at all stagings. you can pay me for temp corp use and/or Atrons if you insist
     • I am lethargy incarnate, though; you must be quite unpoor to motivate me (DM Jambeeno)
4. create accounts, no mass alts yet (the A column shows accounts needed per region)
5. make a corp holder alt for a particular station, give it 1,640,000 ISK, inject Corporation Management on it and start it training level 1
   • you can just copy from the "scout alt name" field in the sheet and paste into the "Name" field in-game
6. burn the alt to staging if necessary then create a corp there to make an HQ (CM1 takes ~17 minutes to train, or just inject the SP if you self-recruited)
   • if a staging is also a Starting Station, you could forgo joining corps, but then you have to individually contract or faff w/roles (neither is worthwhile)
7. contract Atrons to the corp creator, then use the corp creator and the Assembled Ships tool to multi-contract Atrons to the corp
8. ACL the corp
9. if necessary, repeat steps 5-8 until all necessary stations have ACLed corps and Atrons on contract
10. create the rest of the scout alts, apping them to appropriate corp(s) as you go and leaving the ship if you'll be self-destructing (gotta be in a pod to SD)
    • optional: use the ✓ column to show which alts you’ve made
11. accept all apps
12. move all alts to JOs
    • log in → accept invite → during session timer, set home remotely & accept ship contract → self-destruct if necessary → board hull → burn to JO & quit
      • if being combat probed, you can Safelog instead to vanish in 30 s (hull vanishes in 60 s if you Quit)
13. open launcher settings and make launch groups
14. to use: launch → click rightmost character per account → check unis → quit. launch 3 times per region to clear it, ezpz
    • if you named your alts as per the sheet, you can quickly check a specific system with the launcher:
      • focus launcher → Ctrl + F → click "Start a client for ..." → begin typing system nam → click relevant alt to launch it
    • optional: use a tool to unify window positions, shortcuts and settings on your new alts (use at your own risk, and backup beforehand):
      • RIFT can do this, as can EVE Settings Manager (other tools exist)
    • you can quickly manipulate probes on any Uni grid such that you can warp to its edge & back to the hole at zero
      • I won't publish my method, but there are many; you can probably ask around and get one. it became possible in Sep. 2021
      • I made this guide to landing at zero years ago, but it doesn't cover probe manipulation
